A man in his 60s has been killed on the R407 between Clane & Kilcock, at Mainham, after he was hit by a car.
The incident happened shortly after midnight.
The victim, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been taken to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place

The driver of the car, who was uninjured, remained at the scene, and is co-operating with Gardaí.
The road between Painstown Cross & Circle K in Clane, for a technical examination to take place, and diversions are in operation.
The road is expected to remain closed until this afternoon.
Garda Gary Coogan is stationed at Naas and has been speaking to Kildare Today.
KILDARE TRAFFIC: The R407 road between Clane and Kilcock is currently closed due to a collision in the area overnight. Local diversions are in place. Motorists are advised to take an alternative route.

Gardai confirmed just after midday on Wednesday afternoon that the road has re-opened.
