A man in his 30s has been arrested following the discovery of a body of an elderly woman in County Waterford.
The woman, believed to be in her 80s, was found dead at a property near Youghal Bridge yesterday afternoon.
Shortly after 2pm on Monday, Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of the body of a woman at a home in the rural area of Ardsallagh, near Youghal Bridge.
The coroner and Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and the scene is currently preserved for forensic examination.
He's currently being held at a Garda Station in the South Eastern Region, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
Anyone who was in the Youghal Bridge area in recent days, who may have any information, is asked to contact Gardaí.
