Second man treated for facial injuries
A man in his 20s is in a critical condition following a serious assault in Monasterevin early this morning.
It followed an altercation involving a group of people at a Dublin Road premises.
Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to the scene where they found the man unresponsive.
He was taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital.
A second man, aged in his early 50s, was treated at the scene for facial injuries and brought to Portlaoise Hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
No arrests have been made at this time, but the scene has been preserved for forensic examination and an incident room has been established at Kildare Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
