A man has been jailed in connection with a hit-and-run incident which resulted in the death of 16-year-old Kedagh Moore near Robertstown in 2024.
According to RTÉ, he has been jailed for five years and nine months and is also disqualified from driving for 15 years.
Marin Silaghi, a 41-year-old Romanian national with an address in Ballybrittas, Co Laois, left the scene of the incident which happened just 250 metres from the home of the teenage victim.
The incident occurred on the R403 in Blackwood, on November 10th of 2024.
Kedagh was a popular student at Scoil Mhuire Community School in Clane and was actively involved with Clane United Football Club, where he was known as a "terrific young man."
In an online tribute, the club expressed their profound grief, sharing, “Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers are extended to the Moore family as they come to terms with this shocking loss."
