File image: Rolling News

The man is believed to be involved in a long running feud in the area

Gardaí are appealing for information after a man was shot in south Dublin last night.

It's believed a submachine gun was used during the attack in Tallaght.

Shortly before half past six yesterday evening Gardaí were alerted to reports of shots being fired in the Donomore Crescent area of Tallaght.

A man in his 30s was treated at the scene for an apparent gunshot wound and taken by ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital.

However, his injures are not thought to be life threatening.

The Irish Daily star reports the victim was targeted with a submachine gun, months after getting out of prison and is believed to be involved in a long running feud in the area.

The scene was preserved for a technical exam and Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward.
