The town is only cheaper than two of the country's main cities, Cork and Dublin
A new study has found Maynooth to be the third most expensive student town.
The town is only cheaper than two of the country's main cities, Cork (€17,503) and Dublin (€19,990).
It follows research from Switcher.ie, analysing monthly costs in each area with a college or university.
In Maynooth, students spent an average of €1,632 a month, which equates to €17,188 a year.
This includes an average of €720 a month on accommodation, €95 on utilities and €254 on groceries.
As well as this, €142 was spent on average on transport, €368 on entertainment and €53 on gym subscriptions.
This also resulted in an annual increase of €581 (+3%) from 2025.
The report also noted that 2025 annual totals were adjusted down by €500 to reflect the permanent reduction in the student contribution charge, which was applied to the 2025/26 academic year after our 2025 guide was published.
