Maynooth University has received its highest-ever number of applications for admission.
Almost 17,000 applicants have applied to the University, according to figures released by the Central Applications Office.
Its an increase of 12%, year-on-year.
The increases in applications particularly apparent in areas such as Computer Science (34%) Biological & Biomedical Science (22%), Social Science (13%), Science (5%), Business (4%) and Law (4%).
Maynooth's Bachelor of Arts degree continues to be the most popular course in the CAO, attracting more applications and first preferences than any other CAO course, and again this year has had an increase of 4% in applications.
The University plans to admit more than 3,500 students in the coming academic year.
