The agreement will lead to the development of university and public amenities.
This acquisition of 28 acres and 24,000 square metres of built space will end this rental arrangement between themselves and St Patrick's College and provides capacity that cannot be replicated on the existing North Campus.
While further details will be announced upon completion of the transaction, the decision to acquire is underpinned by a rigorous independent evaluation process, with both Maynooth University's Governing Authority and the Trustees of St Patrick's College formally approving the transaction.
The announcement will cater for future redevelopment of existing learning, student and staff spaces, as well as investment in community-focused facilities.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Higher Education Minister and Kildare North TD James Lawless described as a "really significant development" and that will allow the university to "drive on plans" fr amenities and as well as learning spaces
"It unlocks great potential for Maynooth, it's a growing town and growing University and this is a really positive next chapter."
