Kildare, both North and South of the county, delivered clear wins for Catherine Connolly.
President Michael D. Higgins has congratulated the President-elect.
He says Catherine Connolly will have the full support of the office as she prepares for her inauguration next month.

In Kildare South, Connolly won 18,048 votes.
Heather Humphreys finished second on 7,266, followed by Jim Gavin with 2,141.
Turnout in the constituency was 43.8%, with 27,455 valid votes cast out of an electorate of 73,868.
In Kildare North, Connolly received 25,748 votes.
Humphreys secured 11,840, and Gavin took 3,516.
Turnout reached 48.6%, with 41,104 valid votes recorded from an electorate of 94,741.
Earlier in the day, tally information used inside the count centres had already shown Connolly ahead in both constituencies
