A new study has found that 36.5% (41,688) of Kildare residents commute outside of the county for work.
It also found that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) employment (61.8%) is greater than indigenous enterprises in Kildare.
It comes as Kildare County Council has published it's Strategic Employment Locations Study.
Of the 114,328 resident workers in Kildare, a total of 46.8% (53,489) are employed within the county.
The study outlined that there are 78,638 local jobs in Kildare which is an increase of 24.8% (+15,563) since 2016.
The report also concluded that 93% of the county at work which has increased by 20% (+18,882) since 2016.
The four key employment locations were recorded in Naas (11,690 jobs), Leixlip (9,166), Newbridge (7,337) and Maynooth (6,898).
Alongside the published study are settlement profiles of multiple locations across the county.
The twelve profiles detail the attained education within local jobs, the resident-to-worker ratio, industry of employment and socio-economic group.
