Councillor Fintan Brett, Naas MD, has been elected as Cathaoirleach of County Kildare.
Councillor Joe Neville, Celbridge - Leixlip MD, has been appointed of the County of Kildare, at the Annual meeting of the County Council which took place in the Council Chamber, Aras Chill Dara.
The new appointees will succeed the outgoing Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach Councillor Naoise O Cearuil and Councillor Carmel Kelly, following their term.
Cllr Brett and Cllr Neville were presented with the chain of office at today’s meeting and will serve as Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach for 1 year, effective immediately following today’s meeting.
The appointment of new Cathaoirligh, Leas Cathaoirligh, Mayors and Deputy Mayors for the five Municipal District Committees in Kildare will be made at each of the respective Municipal District meetings in July.
