New HSE figures show patients attending Naas General Hospital are waiting an average of 13 hours in its emergency department, rising to more than 15 hours for those aged over 75.

Patients at Naas General Hospital are facing an average emergency department wait of 13 hours, according to newly released HSE figures.

The average rises more than 15 hours for patients aged over 75, while around 1,400 people left the Naas emergency department without being seen during the first six months of 2026.

Kildare South Sinn Féin TD Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh described the figures as "deeply alarming", and called for greater investment in hospital capacity, community care and staffing.

Nationally, almost 28,000 patients spent more than 24 hours in emergency departments between January and June, while close to 59,000 left without being seen.
