Naas Roads Policing Unit, in collaboration with the Road Safety Authority and the Department of Social Protection, conducted a high visibility Multi Agency Checkpoint on the R148 Kilcock in North Kildare yesterday.
The operation saw 362 drivers tested for drugs and alcohol, resulting in the arrest of four individuals for drug or drink driving.
Additionally, one motorist, who was driving while disqualified and tested positive for cocaine, was also arrested.
Eight vehicles were seized during the checkpoint for various reasons, including no insurance, lacking a certificate of road worthiness, and being driven by unaccompanied learner drivers.
Furthermore, 19 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPN) were issued for other road traffic offences.
The Road Safety Authority detected 12 major faults on commercial vehicles and identified four tachograph offences.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Protection conducted 39 interviews and has 10 follow-up investigations underway.
Three additional vehicles were seized for lacking insurance on the M4.
Among these, one motorist was arrested for drug driving in addition to driving without insurance.
