The motorist is now facing court proceedings.

A motorist in Kildare has been detected at almost double the relevant speed limit.

Naas Roads Policing were operating a speed check in Oberstown recently when they detected a drvier travelling at a speed of 114km/hr in a 60km/hr zone.

Gardai say "Court proceedings are to follow."

In a separate operation, Naas Roads Policing Unit detected several motorists speeding during a check in North Kildare yesterday.

One motorist was found travelling at 124kph in an 80kph zone.

Fines and penalty points have been issued to all drivers.
