Fine Gael Councillor Brendan Wyse will lead the MD for the next 12 months, and Finanna Fáil Daragh Fitzpatrick will act as his deputy.
Kildare County Council says "The appointment of new Cathaoirligh, Leas Cathaoirligh, Mayors and Deputy Mayors for the other four Municipal District Committees in Kildare will be made at each of the respective Municipal District meetings throughout July."
