Newbridge Councillor Urges People To Come Forward For A Vaccine In The Run Up To Christmas

Cllr. Peggy O' Dwyer is working at the Punchestown vaccination centre.

People need to come forward for booster jabs before Christmas, that's according to Cllr.Peggy O'Dwyer.

The Fine Gael Councillor is a qualified nurse and  has been vaccinating at Punchestown Vaccination center.

"Come forward for your first, second or booster dose, with one week to Christmas it's vital that people come forward," she insisted.

Cllr. O'Dwyer has also brought forward the following motions to the Kildare Newbridge MD.

She has asked that the council to explore the piloting of the Space Finder Service recently launched in Limerick, to help disabled drivers find parking spaces via an app.

The council has said the Pay Parking Section will investigate the possibility of providing this service as part of the current services across the County of Kildare.

"Drivers will need an iphone or android phone to avail of the service," she said.

O'Dwyer asked that the council investigate the feasibility of the provision of a looped walking trail at Clongownagh - Milltown - Baronstown West.

There is no objection to the proposal, however the council says the Parks Section are committed to a number of projects in the municipal district already.

Further details are required in relation to the exact location and route of the project.

"Residents will be involved in the planning and mapping of any proposed route," said O'Dwyer.

She has asked the council to provide an update on the time frame for the installation of a separate entrance to the playground on the Station Road, Kildare which was agreed at a previous meeting.

The council says quotations have been obtained for the gate. Upgrade works and a short section of new path are required to facilitate the new entrance.

It says quotations for this are due back by the end of the year, and the start date for the works will be dependent on the contractor appointed to do the works.

The council have said it  hopes the works would be completed in early 2022.

Cllr.Peggy O' Dwyer spoke with Eoin Beatty on this morning's Kildare Today.
