Gardai were called to the scene at St Conleth's Car Park on the main street after 8 o'clock on Wednesday morning.
The woman was found unresponsive and was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with serious injuries.
It is understood that the woman may have been stabbed.
Gardai are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area between 11 o'clock on Tuesday night and 8.15 on Wednesday morning.
In a post online, a relative of the victim said "she needs all the prayers she can get".
She also described calls for a vigil as a "lovely idea".
