Northern lights covered skies across the county last night including Dublin, Galway and Cork.
It followed a strong geomagnetic storm, with the display visible from shortly after 9pm
According to Met Eireann, The Northern Lights are the results of collisions between gas particles in our atmosphere and charged particles ejected from the Sun’s atmosphere.
The colour of the northern lights change due to the type of gas particles that are colliding.
