Garda are appealing for any witness to the collision to come forward
A woman who tragically died on Thursday in a collision between the car she was a passenger in and a camper van in Co Mayo has been identified locally as Lizy Abraham Saju.
Ms. Abraham Saju, originally from India and residing in Kill, Co Kildare, was seated in the rear of the car when the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on the N59 between Newport and Mulranny. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 63-year-old, who worked as a nurse, was on a family trip in west Mayo. Two other passengers in the same vehicle, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Additionally, the four occupants of the camper van were transported to Mayo University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Ms Abraham Saju was employed by Allenfield Nursing Homes and was remembered as a conscientious and caring nurse following the news of her death.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the incident, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
