1,692 customers in Kildare Town are without electricity, and it may not be restored until this evening.
The fault is centered on the Southgreen Road, but is affecting premises in a wide area.
ESB Networks is aware of the fault, and repairs are underway.
It could be 6.45pm this evening before supply is restored.
