Kildare has recorded a significant spike in drivers caught using mobile phones behind the wheel, according to new Garda figures.
The data reveals a 47% year-on-year increase in fixed charge notices issued for mobile phone use while driving, rising from 348 in Q4 2023 to 511 in Q4 2024.
Dublin was the worst offender with significant increases across all Garda divisions.

70 per cent of driver deaths happen during off peak hours between 10pm and 6am in the morning.
So far this year, 67 people have been killed on Irish roads.
