Rape Survivor Speaks Out As 13,000 Sexual Offence Accusations Go Unprosecuted

Rape survivor Ciara Mangan says the figures show the ‘gruelling’ effort, and evidence needed, to get a case to court in the first place.

13,000 people accused of a sexual offence were not prosecuted by the DPP in the past decade.

The figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal just over 6,300 suspected sex offenders were prosecuted, out of over 19,600 accused people.
