Rathangan resident Sarah Mather has shared her experience of living with Multiple Sclerosis.
It comes as MS Ireland's World Multiple Sclerosis Day Campaign takes place on May 30th.
Speaking on Kildare Today, she explained how the chronic autoimmune disease has affected her since her diagnosis in May 2022.
"It started off with numbness and pins and needles, it was constant, extreme fatigue as well, it was overwhelming."
The symptoms began three months after the birth of her son.
"I couldn't close his nappy at times, writing at times became very difficult, if you looked up the symptoms of MS, I ticked them all at the start."
Ms Mather also the lost the sight in one of her eyes.
As she looks forward to her involvement in the World Multiple Sclerosis Day Campaign 2026 with MS Ireland, she assures people that there is hope:
"It's all about managing it, it's not a death sentence, for anyone newly diagnosed, it's about reaching out for support."
