Retained Firefighters In Kildare Considering Labour Court Proposals Aimed At Ending Dispute

In June 2023, retained firefighters took part in strike action demanding better pay and conditions.

On-call firefighters are currently considering Labour Court recommendations aimed at ending a long-running dispute.

Kildare has six fire stations, with Naas and Newbridge being the only ones that have a full-time station officer each rather than a retained one.

All other fire fighters across the six stations are retained, meaning firefighters are paid a retainer and carry pagers in order to respond to calls.
