An update has been given in relation to the new library in Clane which is under construction.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Independent Councillor for Clane-Maynooth MD Pádraig McEvoy said that some reworks are needed for the site:
"They're anticipating having to dig down into the ground and an archaeological license is due to be decided on or issued shortly, for monitoring the site in proximity to an old graveyard and church in the town."
"It's going to be a very modern facility, so it does require a lot of reworks, it'll be going on for another 15 months before it's likely to be opened up."
Cllr McEvoy added that the project has been in planning for seven years and that it "takes a lot to get agreement and funding lined up".
KCC have said they have committed to periodic updates in relation to these works.
"It does promise to be one of the bigger investments in the town, and it's something we're looking forward to."
