Risk Assessment & Remediation Plan To Be Developed For Curragh Legacy Landfill.

There are 28 such legacy sites in Kildare, in all.

A remediation plan is being developed for a Kildare legacy landfill.

These are landfills operational between 1977 and 1997, which have now been regularised.

There are 28 legacy sites in Kildare, in all.

A risk assessment reveals 7 sites are classed as high risk, 11 as moderate risk and 10 as low risk.

KCC was allocated funding in 2019 to conduct additional assessments of two sites, at Knocknagarm and Pollardstown.

The council has now tendered for the provision of an Environmental Risk Assessment and Remediation Plan, including ground investigations, for Knocknagarm, on The Curragh.

It is deem a high risk site.

The deadline for the response to the tender is July 23rd.
