Schools Forced To Drop Some Choice Subjects Due To Teacher Shortages

77 per cent of second-level schools had no applications for an advertised position during the last school year, according to the ASTI.

Schools are being forced to drop some choice subjects due to a shortage of teachers.

More than 600 roles are still vacant as the academic year approaches, with nine in 10 schools saying there are no substitutes available to cover absent teachers either.
