Sea Sessions Cancelled, Beyond the Pale Nearly Pulled As Festival Scene Faces Difficulties

It comes as a new report has found people are drinking less alcohol, with the average consumption dropping nearly 5 percent per adult last year.

A decline in 'party culture' is proving difficult for festivals to survive, according to a former top promoter.

There are fears for the independent festival scene, after Sea Sessions announced it isn't going ahead, and Beyond the Pale was almost pulled days before it's due to start.

It comes as a new report has found people are drinking less alcohol, with the average consumption dropping nearly 5 percent per adult last year.

Former Sea Sessions chief Ray O'Donoghue, who is now Dublin's Night-Time Economy Advisor, says there's been a huge change in social culture.
