The fire service is now trying to reopen talks with the landowner and their agent to see if a partial sale of the site can be agreed.

Plans for a new fire station in Monasterevin have hit a setback, after the proposed sale of the preferred site on the Dublin Road fell through.

Kfm understands that the fire service is now trying to reopen talks with the landowner and their agent to see if a partial sale of the site can be agreed.

The site was originally identified in September.

The fire service had already asked the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management to consider the project for the next round of capital funding.
