Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority are encouraging drivers to slow down.
Seven new speed cameras will go live today in Kildare.
Nationwide 61 new speed cameras will go live this morning as Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority encourage drivers to lower their speed.
The cameras are spread around 23 counties with the majority on regional and national routes.
It comes after 5 people were killed on Irish roads over the weekend, bringing the total number of those who died in traffic accidents this year to 94.
Fines for drivers who speed or use a mobile phone are also set to double.
The new regulations, due to be brought in by the Junior Transport Minister, will see fixed penalty charges rise above €100 for the first time.
Gardaí have published the GPS co-ordinates of the camera locations on their website, with an interactive map also available to view here.
