There's been a small glimmer of hope for residents in Derrinturn after it was announced that it's Garda station will now open for one additional day per week.
Aontu representative John Bryan said it is "significant" news for locals working full-time who can't visit the station during the week.
Currently, the village has just 5 Gardai out of 432 countywide.
In contrast, ten years ago, when the population of Derrinturn was smaller, 8 Gardai were stationed there.
Bryan said locals can now get passports stamped or documents signed on Sundays.
Kfm recently visited Derrinturn to speak to a number of people about issues in the area.
Byrne said the campaign for additional policing in the area is not over and that locals are still actively campaigning for additional Gardai to be deployed to the station.

An email sent to Bryan from a Superintendent, seen by Kfm, states that Gardaí in Carbury and Leixlip "continue to monitor all aspects of this feud".
It said armed support patrols continue as part of routine patrolling.
It stated that since October there has been "no significant incidents related to this feud".
"Between June and October 7th 2024 an incident room was set up at Leixlip Garda Station in response to an escalation in feud-related activity. Investigations into criminal damage by fire, firearm incidents, drug-related intimidation and offences involving offensive weapon offences were significantly progressed," according to the email.
