Kildare based scientist among those working on Euclid programme
A European mission to space with a significant Irish interest will lift off from Florida in the United States this afternoon.
The European Space Agency will launch its Euclid mission - a €1.4 billion precision instrument that will explore the far universe, map its structure, and study the nature of dark energy and dark matter.
Professor Peter Coles from Maynooth University's Department of Theoretical Physics is the only scientist at an Irish university working on the ESA mission.
He is anticipating significant data will be sent back, two years into the six year mission:
