Naas gardaí arrested a drug dealer over the weekend in Athgarvan.
The Naas Roads Policing Unit carried out a speed checkpoint in Athgarvan Village, where one driver was detected travelling at 80km/h in a 50km/h zone.
When stopped, the driver was issued a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice, which, when combined with the driver’s existing penalty points, results in a 6-month driving disqualification.
According to the post by An Garda Síochána Kildare on Facebook, a strong smell of cannabis was detected coming from the vehicle.
A roadside drug test was conducted and the driver failed for both cannabis and cocaine.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of controlled drugs for sale or supply.
Gardaí say the investigation continues.
