A split has emerged among defence solicitors, with some returning to the criminal legal aid panel.
The Law Society remains in dispute with Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan over the introduction of a new flat fee payment model in July, which prompted mass resignations from the panel.
However, data obtained by the Irish Independent shows 179 legal aid certificates were issued to 36 solicitors across 13 counties in the week after the district courts returned from their summer break.
Twenty-nine were issued at district courts in Waterford, 20 in Limerick, 16 in Carlow, 16 in Clonmel, 11 in Kilkenny, nine in Naas, eight in Portlaoise, seven in Wexford and one in Nenagh.
Meanwhile, the Law Society has asked the Justice Minister to consider appointing an independent mediator to resolve the dispute.
