The warning is in place until 11pm on Tuesday.
A status yellow rain warning is in effect in Wicklow and Carlow.
Other counties in the south east of the country are also affected such as Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford.
The counties could face heavy rain and possible spot flooding in places.
The warning will expire at half 11 tonight.
Drivers are being advised to drive with care and look out for road flooding.
