26-year-old PJ McNamara of Ardmore Drive in Tallaght, appeared before the Dublin District Court today.
A man allegedly filmed taking two stolen shotguns to a house in Dublin two years ago has been refused bail.
26-year-old PJ McNamara of Ardmore Drive in Tallaght, appeared before the Dublin District Court today.
Mr. McNamara is accused of unlawful possession of two shotguns in suspicious circumstances, and possessing stolen property on July 23rd 2021 at Rossfield Green, Tallaght.
A Detective Garda said the accused made no reply when charged on Thursday.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has instructed the case be dealt with at the higher level circuit court.
The Detective continued, alleging the accused brought a bag carrying firearms to the front of a house.
Those weapons were stolen in burglaries in Meath and Louth earlier, and were recovered.
The Detective believed the incident was connected to a local feud involving firearms.
He said he was worried the accused might flee the jurisdiction, and had previously lived in the UK.
He accepted Mr. McNamara remained in the locality since being interviewed, and was available all the time.
The solicitor for the accused said his client had denied knowing what was in the bag.
Mr. McNamara, according to his solicitor, had offered to obey strict bail conditions to ease concerns from Gardai.
However the judge refused bail and remanded the accused in custody pending the preparation of a book of evidence.
Legal aid was granted after the judge noted Mr. McNamara was on social welfare.
