Tea, Scones And A Chat Settle Celbridge Cobblelock Path Standoff

Residents of Killadoon Park Estate had blocked Kildare County Council workers from pouring concrete at the entrance to their award-winning estate.

There was a concrete standoff in Celbridge this morning - but it ended not with Gardaí, as threatened, but with tea, scones and a discussion.

Residents of Killadoon Park Estate had blocked Kildare County Council workers from pouring concrete at the entrance to their award-winning estate.

They argued that removing the cobblelock path was “a massive downgrade” and a waste of taxpayers’ money.

Council officials had warned the cobblelock was prone to cracking under cars and trucks, raising safety concerns.

But after a roadside chat - and some home-baked diplomacy - both sides reached agreement, according to some locals on the ground.

Kfm understands that the cobblelock will now be reinstated.
