They argued that removing the cobblelock path was “a massive downgrade” and a waste of taxpayers’ money.
Council officials had warned the cobblelock was prone to cracking under cars and trucks, raising safety concerns.
But after a roadside chat - and some home-baked diplomacy - both sides reached agreement, according to some locals on the ground.
Kfm understands that the cobblelock will now be reinstated.
