Fianna Fáil is dealing with internal tension after a list circulated naming several TDs as part of an alleged move to challenge party leader Micheál Martin through a no confidence motion.
At a private parliamentary party meeting last night, Kildare South TD Seán Ó Fearghaíl said he was surprised to be described as part of an “old guard”, noting he is almost the same age as the party leader.
Those named on the list believe it was circulated from within Fianna Fáil to undermine members who have raised concerns about the party’s performance in the presidential election.
The meeting also heard demands to publish the party’s presidential campaign review without delay, with several TDs saying it should already have been released.
