The surge occurred between 2019, and to date, this year.
The number of applicants on the social housing waiting list in the Clane Maynooth MD has increased by 32% in under two years.
That's according to Kildare County Council data supplied to Green Cllr., Peter Hamilton.
In 2019, there were 851 applicants, which can include single people, couples, and families.
And, most recently, that has risen to 1,129 applicants.
Kildare County Council says "While information is compiled at county level and is compared to the previous year, this information is not provided or available at Municipal District level. The Housing Department records information on the number of applicants who have identified a first preference for the Clane-Maynooth MD"
