The awards ceremony will take place at the Light House Cinema in Dublin next month
Three Kildare-based writers are finalists in the 19th Writers’ Guild of Ireland Zebbie Awards which celebrate Irish writing for stage, screen and audio.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Light House Cinema in Dublin on Thursday, 3 September.
Kildare natives Richie Conroy and Aisling Byrne are finalists in the Best Feature Film Script and Best Short Film Script categories, with Richie nominated for "Fran the Man" and Aisling for "Mary is Missing", which she co-wrote with Caitríona Daly.
Cork-born Lisa O’Donovan, who is also based in Kildare, is a finalist in the Children’s and Young People’s TV category for "Maddie & Triggs, episode148 Ice Cream".
The awards are named in honour of O.Z. ‘Zebby’ Whitehead, a Broadway and Hollywood actor who was a great supporter of theatre and writing in Ireland after he moved to Dublin in 1963.
