Athy Garda Station says the fault was reported earlier today, with temporary traffic disruption expected in the area.
Kildare County Council has confirmed repair works are underway and the lights are expected to be back in operation by tomorrow morning.
Drivers are being urged to approach the junction carefully and to allow extra time for journeys until the issue is resolved.
