Local residents say they’re tired of waiting, and warn it’s only a matter of time before there’s another serious incident at the junction.
Two crashes in two days have renewed calls for action at Dagweld’s Cross.
The junction in Blackwood, between Prosperous and Allenwood, has long been labelled one of the county’s most notorious black spots.
Kildare County Council has set aside money for a redesign, including work to improve visibility, but it says it doesn’t have enough funding to finish the job.
Kildare North Social Democrats TD Aidan Farrelly says the government must now intervene, and is calling for money to be included in the upcoming Budget.
Local residents say they’re tired of waiting, and warn it’s only a matter of time before there’s another serious incident at the junction.
They have been campaigning for years to make the junction safe.
Deputy Farrelly has written to both Sean Canney, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, and the Chief Executive of Kildare County Council, requesting a meeting to discuss what can be done to make Dagwelds Coss safe.
