Both occurred in the Ballygurteen area of Paulstown.
Gardaí are questioning two suspects after two men were injured, one seriously following in separate assaults in Kilkenny on Christmas night.
At about 8 o clock a tractor was taken from farmland in the Ballygurteen area of Paulstown, it was involved in a single vehicle road crash a short time later.
In a second separate incident a man in his 50's suffered non life-threatening head injuries when he was attacked and an attempt made to steal a car, in the same area.
While a short time later a man in his 60's was found lying unconscious and suffering from head wounds, again in Ballygurteen.
He is in St. Luke's Hospital where his condition is described as serious.
Two men in their early 30's were arrested and are being questioned in Thomastown and Kilkenny Garda Stations.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information that can assist with this investigation to come forward.
Meanwhile, Gardai are thanking the public after a 16 year old from Mountmellick was found safe and well.
They had been seeking information on the whereabouts of Laois teenager Quentin Quinn, who had been missing for three days.
