Gardaí are appealing for information after an attempted burglary in Newbridge.
The incident occurred in the Páirc Mhuire estate between 4:45am and 5:05am on the morning of Thursday 27 August.
The woman who lives in the house was awoken by the sound of her unlocked front door being opened.
She then witnessed a man standing inside the door, who then fled after she startled him.
The male in question is described as 5’3 with a thin build and an Irish accent.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to anything suspicious in the area during this time to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045440180.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Naas Garda Sarah O' Sullivan said that as we enter into the winter months, people should be more cautious.
She advised people to secure all doors and windows at all times, turn on indoor lights or use timer switches or smart plugs so your house looks "lived in", and to turn on house alarms every time you leave or go to sleep.
Other key advice includes hiding keys in secure areas, while also securing valuables, ensuring not to keep large amounts of cash or expensive jewellery at home.
