Hospital asks public to consider GP, pharmacy and injury unit amid surge in demand.
Naas General Hospital says its Emergency Department is under significant pressure, with very high numbers of patients presenting in recent days.
Management is urging people with non-emergency issues to consider other options, including their GP, local pharmacist, the Naas Injury Unit, or the out-of-hours GP service KDOC.
The Injury Unit, located near the hospital, can treat minor injuries such as broken bones, dislocations and burns.
KDOC operates an appointment-only service for urgent care outside normal hours, with centres in Naas and Celbridge.
Patients attending the Emergency Department with non-urgent conditions are facing long waiting times.
However, anyone in need of emergency care is urged not to delay, and those with symptoms of a heart attack or stroke should call 999 or 112 immediately.
