Speaking on Kildare Today, Independent Senator and owner of The Elms Home and Living, Aubrey McCarthy stressed the difficulty for family businesses to continue to operate:
"For family run businesses, margins are tighter, it's impossible for families to survive."
"The future is bleak for Irish retailers, the supports aren't there for them, we need more for the local businesses who keep the show on the road."
