"What's Going On In Their Heads?" Local Charity Slams Horse Abuse In Straffan, With Calls For More Animal Welfare Funding

Martina Kenny said she can not comprehend what goes on in the minds of people behind the abuse.

Hundreds of people attended a protest outside an equine abattoir in Straffan.

Martina Kenny from Moyvalley-based animal charity My Lovely Horse Rescue said she can not comprehend what goes on in the minds of people behind the abuse.

She said there are serious questions that need to be answered including why more money is not being spent on horse welfare.

Operations at the plant, run by Shannonside Foods, have been fully suspended, after footage emerged of horses being severely mistreated.
