The plans include various climbing platforms, a hangout area, as well as a canopy and bike racks.

Kildare County Council has said that work on a new play area in Moorefield park in Newbridge is set to get underway in mid October of this year.

The plans include various climbing platforms, a hangout area, as well as a canopy and bike racks.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Social Democrats Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge MD Chris Pender says it will be a "significant addition" to the area:

He also said that it was "quite disappointing" to see how much the project had been delayed:

"It's obviously quite disappointing to see it delayed this far, we were originally told we could potentially see it in 2025, then the start of this summer."

"Unfortunately playground installations tends to come from really specialised contractors who are masters in their field, and because those contractors have a heavier workload, it has resulted in Moorefield park being moved to October."

Cllr Pender concluded that it will add to the existing skate park in the area, providing extra amenities for kids in the area:

"It's going to add additional play into the area, where kids already are, lots of parents bring their kids to the skate park, and they may have younger siblings who have no interest in skating."
