Gardaí are investigating after a young boy had his dogs stolen from him after being threatened with a hurley by four males in Athy.
The incident occurred between 1am and 1:30am on the morning of Friday 11 September as he walked his dogs via the canal parallel to the Monasterevin road.
The boy was approached by the males who had been in a black hatchback 182-registered BMW which was parked across the road from the church on the Monasterevin road.
The males, who were "well covered up", then threatened the boy, and proceeded to steal his dogs, lamp and battery.
They then left in the same vehicle, there was no injury to the boy.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Naas Garda Mo Nerney described the incident as a "frightening ordeal for the young boy who was walking his dogs".
Gardaí are appealing to anyone that may have been in the Athy area between 1-1:30am that may have seen anything suspicious or a car acting suspicious to call Athy Garda station on 059-8634210 or any Garda Station.
