Sameer Syed was due to stand trial the following week in connection with the three deaths in Rathfarnham, It's believed he took his own life.
New figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, show a total of 100 prisoners have died in Irish jails since 2012.
Of the 100 prisoner deaths in custody since 2012, 49 of the inquests still haven't been completed.
Of those that have, almost a third have been confirmed as suicides.
The Irish Prison Service says all deaths in custody are investigated, including by the Inspector of Prisons and the gardai, where circumstances warrant.
